Andrew Severinsen - Lead Pastor
Andrew and Rachel both grew up in Southern California in loving Christian homes and part of communities of faith (local EV Free churches) who faithfully pointed them to Jesus and modeled what authentic discipleship to Jesus looks like. Andrew and Rachel placed their faith in Christ at an early age, but it was during high school and college when they made their faith their own and experienced tremendous growth in their knowledge and love of Jesus and dependency on Him.
Approaching their first anniversary in 2012, Andrew and Rachel moved to Northwest Wyoming and spent 7 years there learning, growing, and serving together. They love the outdoors, seeing new things, adventuring and exploring the beauty that God surrounds us with. They've absolutely loved that corner of "paradise" in NW Wyoming for the time that God had them there. In 2019, God led them to a new and different "paradise" here with us at Grace in Kona.
Andrew studied mathematics at UCLA and then received his Master of Divinity degree from Biola University (Talbot School of Theology). Andrew longs to point people and families to Jesus, our greatest Treasure, and the joy that is only found in Him, through the studying and teaching of God's Word, through growth in the context of relationships, and through having a lot of fun together.
Rachel studied nursing at Biola University and is an emergency room nurse Kona Community Hospital. Rachel grew up riding and training horses, competing and riding for pleasure. They even brought two of their horses with them from Wyoming to Hawaii. Rachel tries to keep Andrew relevant through music and staying up to date on the shifting culture around us. They love their dog, cats, horses, Netflix, and Costco. Andrew enjoys golf and fishing and is also an avid sports fan of his alma mater, UCLA. Go Bruins!!!
